Mr. Lee uses his gifts in communication and presentation to represent parties in automobile, products liability, recreational sport injury and trucking accident cases. He has extensive trial experience and has tried over fifty jury trials to verdict.
Mr. Lee has written for California Lawyer Magazine in the expert advice column on the subject of depositions. He has written a series of articles for Defense Comment Magazine on the subject of reasonable medical expenses in tort cases. Mr. Lee has served as a Judge Pro Tem and Arbitrator for the Superior Courts. He has participated and assisted for a number of years in trial related teaching programs at Stanford Law School, the University of San Francisco Law School and has given the representative defense final argument at the University of Santa Clara School of Law during its trial advocacy program. He has been a featured speaker in Santa Clara County Bar Association continuing education programs in the areas of deposition skills and final argument. His significant cases include the landmark assumption of risk case of Ford v. Gouin (1992) 3 Cal.4th 339, which he successfully argued before the California Supreme Court. His trials have featured creative arguments, computer enhanced presentations and, where appropriate, humor. He has also volunteered his time to assist high school mock trial teams and has acted as a judge during the latter stages of County-wide competition.
Born in Long Beach, California, on July 22, 1954, Jonathan was admitted to the Bar in 1979. Prior to admission, he attended Long Beach Poly High School, then Pepperdine University under a music scholarship, where he obtained a B.S. in Business Administration in 1976. He then attended Pepperdine School of Law, receiving a J.D. in 1979. He was immediately hired as a Deputy District Attorney for the County of Tulare, where he served from 1979 through 1981. One of his trial victories during that time concerned the conviction of two people for hit and run driving the same car.
He then joined the Law Firm of Robinson & Wood, and became a member of the firm in 1987. Now a senior shareholder, Jonathan is a member of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California, the Defense Research Institute, the California State Bar, Santa Clara Bar Association and the American Law Firm Association.
