Jon B. Zimmerman, one of the managing partners at the San Jose firm of Robinson & Wood, Inc., has an established practice as a trial lawyer and counselor to clients in Silicon Valley. His practice includes the handling of commercial, intellectual property, employment, real estate, fraud, construction defect and personal injury disputes, litigation and transactions on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants for over 17 years. In the field of commercial construction litigation, he specializes in the representation of major developers and general contractors. During his practice, Mr. Zimmerman has tried cases in both Federal Court and State Superior Courts dealing with a wide variety of disputes and has successfully negotiated multi-million dollar settlements on behalf of his clients.
Although Zimmerman represents both plaintiffs and defendants, a significant portion of his practice involves the representation of self-insured entities, individuals and commercial parties. He has lecturered on tort law and civil trial practice before the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California as well as the Defense Research Institute and is a member of both. Mr. Zimmerman is also a member of the California State Bar, Santa Clara County Bar Association and American Law Firm Association (ALFA) and serves as a Judge Pro Tem and Judicial Arbitrator for the Superior Courts and acts as a private mediator. He is also admitted to the United States District Court, Northern and Eastern Districts of California.
Born February 7, 1957 in Oakland, California, Mr. Zimmerman grew up and was educated locally on the Peninsula and thereafter attended the University of California at Berkeley where he received Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Political Science in 1980, with Honors and Distinction in General Scholarship. He thereafter attended and graduated cum laude from the University of Santa Clara School of Law in June, 1983 and was admitted to the California practice of law in December, 1983. Mr. Zimmerman joined Robinson and Wood, Inc. in San Jose immediately thereafter. He is married and has three children.
